Afterglow
Afterglow is a permanent installation in a three-story lobby space of the Student Experience Center (SEC), a new building on the campus of Oregon State University. It consists of a central ceiling piece and a continuous surface that wraps the stair baluster and selected adjacent walls and ceilings. It is composed of just under 2000 powder-coated strips of custom fabricated aluminum.
The project's namesake comes from the atmospheric phenomenon that occurs daily around twilight: the orb of the sun has all but disappeared and the particles in the sky refract its warm rosy glow.
